If you are looking for a great place to take a drive and see some nature you may want to check out Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Located around the Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral area of Florida, the refuge is wonderful!
You can take the Black Point Drive, which is a 7-mile drive from start to finish. There are a few places along the way where you can stop and take a walk to some observation areas, as well as a location that has bathrooms. We have taken the kids to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge quite a few times and have seen so many things - alligators, roseate spoonbills, and so many things in between. There is a lot to see in this beautiful place.
This is especially a good place to go to view wildlife if you are unable to get out of the vehicle to take a nature walk. There is plenty to see right from the car on this drive. They also have a visitor center (which is not open every day), a manatee viewing area, and hiking trails.
