"Grandma Gatewood's Walk" book review

If you like hiking even a little bit (or are interested in getting started), I highly recommend this book. This woman in our nation's history is amazing and so inspirational! She was the first woman to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail alone (at age 67). She ended up hiking it three times, and also hiked the Oregon Trail, and numerous other long and historical hikes. She's a legend in the hiking world and her story is fabulous.

The writer of this book (a Tampa newspaper reporter) went to great lengths to research for this book, using Emma's own journals that she kept along the trail, interviews, newspaper clippings, etc. in order to write this awesome book. I absolutely love this book and this woman! Read it!

Grandma Gatewood's Walk: The Inspiring Story of the Woman Who Saved the Appalachian Trail is a great book for anyone who enjoys hiking. You can't help but to love her!
