RV Camping at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine, Florida

We just finished up RV camping at Anastasia State Park, located in St. Augustine, Florida. We spent three nights there and overall, we had a great time!

Being that it is summer, we prefer to camp somewhere that has a place to cool off (e.g., springs, beach, etc.). This campground is located right by the ocean, so we figured it would be a good option. The campground has two sections that you can choose from. We were in campsite number 107. We did ride our bikes and look around our loop, as well as the campsites in the other area. It's a very nice campground! There is lots of shade, with trees everywhere in the campground area. The campsite space was nice. It was shaded and had a nice buffer around it so that you have some privacy from your neighbors. The sites are a little short, so when you are hooking/unhooking your trailer you are blocking the road to traffic for the time that it takes you to do that. The campsite has a picnic table, and a fire pit.

They do not have full hookups at Anastasia State Park. That is my only one complaint. We were about six sites down from the walkway that leads to the restroom. You can get a closer spot to make it a shorter walk. The handicap sites have their own private walkway to the restroom. We didn't use them all of the time, but we did sometimes to save on the water usage in the trailer, since it wasn't a full hookup. Every time I went into the women's bathroom and shower area it was very clean and well maintained. My husband reported that the men's restroom was also clean when he used it. The bathroom had separate shower stalls that locked and had a bench for your belongings.

The park has a few children's playground areas, walking trails (including one that leads to the St. Augustine Amphitheater), and beach access. You can drive your car to the beach, walk, or ride bikes (although bikes can't go on the long boardwalk, so you have to leave them behind). The boardwalk is long, so there's quite a walk to get to the water once you get to the beach area. From the parking lot it is about a 10 minute walk down to the beach. They do also offer some biking areas throughout the park. The park also has three dump stations and a recycling center. They have free WiFi in the beach parking area (it doesn't work anywhere else in the campground). They also have a small store to purchase food, ice, an area to launch and rent kayaks, and more.

We spent time at the beach each day, ran in the morning, did some biking, and had a great time. The park is located near businesses, too, so if you want to leave you will find nearby stores, restaurants, and plenty of tourist attractions.

Two thumbs up for RV camping at Anastasia State Park. We loved it there and will certainly be back! It's a nice peaceful retreat in the woods, with beach access just minutes away. And the beach there was gorgeous, with some of the most beautiful dunes I've ever seen!
