Trout Lake Nature Center in Eustis, Florida
While RV camping at Lake Griffin State Park, we took the 30 minute drive over to check out Trout Lake Nature Center. Located in Eustis, the Trout Lake Nature Center is a place that offers some short hiking trails, environmental education programs, and a small museum with nature artifacts.
There are several very short nature trails at Trout Lake Nature Center. They are nice and well marked. Some have footbridges and others have small boardwalks. We did all of the small trails and it probably added up to about 1.25 miles. Some of the trails are .20 miles and others are just slightly longer. They have some gopher tortoises there, turtles, and other items on display in their environmental education building. There are volunteers on duty to answer questions.
We were probably only at the center for 1.5 hours and that was with doing the trails and checking out all of the displays. They do offer some educational programs, but none were doing on when we were there.
This is a nice place to take smaller kids to, as they can handle the short trails and check out all of the items on display. I saw a lot of older people there, too, and they seemed to be enjoying it.
Check out the Trout Lake Nature Center site here for their hours and when they are offering environmental educational programs. The center is free to the public. Here are pictures from our stop there:
