Alligator eating alligator at Orlando Wetlands Park

This morning (August 25, 2019) my husband and I were taking a hike at Orlando Wetlands Park. We got to see an alligator eating another alligator. The larger alligator was eating a smaller one and taking its time doing so. I got some pictures, as did a couple of other people who were around us watching as well, but I was able to get this video of it. Alligators will eat smaller ones, and according to Live Science, around 6-7% of the young population are lost to cannibalism.

On the rest of our walk there we were able to see many birds, quite a few alligators of various sizes, and a snake. Orlando Wetlands Park is always a great place to hike if you want to see birds and alligators. Just be aware that there isn't shaded, so if you will be going on a sunny day, plan accordingly. The park does offer restrooms and the trails are well marked. It's a beautiful place to take a hike and see the wildlife.
